Clients often find it difficult to choose the right outfit, and that’s completely normal. In preparation for each session we will have a phone call to decide together on a theme (or themes) for the photos. Whether the shoot takes place in Vancouver, Surrey or another location in the Lower Mainland, that theme will guide the selection of outfits that support the mood you want. Solid colours usually photograph beautifully. Some prints bring a nice sense of movement, though very busy designs can distract from your expression, so we can look at your options together and see what fits the theme.
Different styles shape the atmosphere of the photos in subtle ways. Business attire works especially well for headshots, because it communicates confidence and professionalism. Evening dresses, sarees or lehengas create a more glamorous feel and bring a sense of elegance to the frame. Leisure wear is perfect for lifestyle photos around the city where comfort and natural movement matter most. Exploring a mix of these styles can help us find what feels most authentic once we’re on set.
Shoes influence posture more than people expect. Sleek footwear completes a formal look while simple, comfortable shoes work well for casual portraits. High heels can help women create elegant lines and stronger poses, though comfort still matters because feeling at ease always shows in the final images.
Most sessions include time for outfit changes so you can bring a few options and adjust as we go. Whether we are shooting at Vancouver Waterfront, a Burnaby park or in our Surrey studio, the session becomes a collaborative experience where your style and comfort guide the direction.
